Hailstorm hits Chittagong

A severe hailstorm struck the Chittagong city yesterday morning, paralysing normal life for around 30 minutes.

The hailstorm, accompanied by a downpour, began at 11:10am, forcing traffic movement to come to a halt and the pedestrians to run for cover.

Standing crops were damaged in suburban areas, but no casualties were reported.

Though the hailstorm stopped after half an hour, the downpour continued until 2:00pm.

The Meteorological office recorded 46mm of rain.
