2 killed over land disputes
Two people were killed over land disputes in Chapainawabganj and Laxmipur districts on Wednesday.
In Chapainawabganj, a youth was stabbed to death allegedly by his uncles over a piece of disputed land at Karnokhali-Mirzapur village in Shibganj upazila in the morning, reports our correspondent.
The deceased was identified as Abdul Karim, 28, son of late Mozammel Haque of the village.
Sub-Inspector Sudipta Reza of Shibganj Police Station said there was a longstanding conflict between Abdul Karim and his uncles Monirul Islam and Shukur over the land.
At around 9:00am, Monirul and Shukur went to the land to irrigate Irri crop, but they were resisted by Karim. At this, the duo attacked Karim with sharp weapons, leaving him dead on the spot .
His body was sent to Adhunik Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy, said the SI.
In Laxmipur, a man was killed in an attack allegedly by his rivals over land in Basghar area of Ramganj upazila the same day.
The deceased was identified as Abul Khayer Patoary, son of late Basir Ullah of the area, reports UNB.
Police and locals said the incident took place when Abul Khayer along with his supporters tried to prevent his rivals from constructing a building on the disputed land.
The law enforcers later arrested three people in connection with the incident.
