10 Jubo League men charged with killing Milky
Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) pressed charges against 11 people including 10 Jubo League activists for killing the party leader Riazul Haque Khan Milky last year.
Milky, organising secretary of the Dhaka city (south) unit of Jubo League, was gunned down in the capital’s Gulshan area on July 30.
The charge-sheeted Jubo League activists are: Shakhawat Hossain Chanchal, Jahangir Mondol, Shahidul Islam, Aminul Islam, Sohel Mahmud, Chunnu Mia, Mohammad Arif, Ibrahim Khalil, Rafiqul Islam and Sharif Uddin Pappu.
Another accused Fahima Islam Lopa is wife of Jubo League man Maruf Reza Sagar, a close aide of Milky.
Of those accused primarily, Jahid Siddique Tarek was killed in a shootout with Rab a day after Milky was killed.
Cahanchal, Lopa, Arif, Khalil and Islam are absconding while the rest is now behind the bar.
Md Kajemur Rashid, assistant superintendent of police (ASP) of Rab-1 and also the investigating officer (IO) of the case, submitted the charge sheet before the Court of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate in Dhaka around 10:30am.
The ASP also dropped the names of nine Jubo League activists from the charge sheet saying that charges brought against them were not primarily proved.
Milky’s brother Major Rashedul Haque Khan filed the murder case with Gulshan Police Station on the day of murder.
