10 hurt as two student groups clash at PUST

At least 10 students of Patuakhali University of Science and Technology (PUST) were injured in a clash between two groups of students yesterday.
Campus sources said students of Keramat Ali Hall have been divided into two groups--Barisal group and Patuakhali group--over establishing supremacy at the hall.
At around 10:00am yesterday, students belonging to Barisal group led by Avi, Limon and Galib attacked the students of Patuakhali group at the hall, prompting them to retaliate.
At least 10 rooms of the hall were ransacked and ten students from both sides were injured during the clash that continued for 4 hours.
Of injured Apu, Shahidul, Anirban, Javed, Emon, Sohag, Chandon, Shskil, Munnan and Dipu received treatment at PSTU medical center.
Additional police and Rab personnel have been deployed on the campus to avert further clash between the two student groups.
Kamruzzaman Sohag, president of BCL university unit, said the two sides clashed over a trivial matter and his party men were not involved in the incident.
Contacted, Officer-in-Charge Md Ziaul Haque of Dumki Police Station said they brought the situation under control in the afternoon.
