Resignation of SUST VC not a solution: Dipu Moni
Urging the protesting students of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) to withdraw the ongoing movement, Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni today said resignation of the vice chancellor is not a solution.
The minister came up with the remark at a press conference at her Hare Road residence this evening while briefing about the ongoing protest at SUST.
"We hope students will call off their strike. All of their allegations and all the incidents in the university will be scrutinised. Proper steps will be taken against those who has made negligence of duty," she said.
Dipu Moni said If the VC resigns, the problem will not be solved. "One VC will go, another VC will come. Problems will exist there. The resignation of the VC will not impact the problems," she said.
"What is happening here (university) now is the revelation of the problems … Here teachers-students, university administration and government are all on one side. There are no two sides here. We want to resolve the problem through discussions," said the minister.
