Udichi bombing accused found dead
A man accused in the Jessore Udichi bomb attack and journalist Saiful Alam Mukul murder was found murdered in Jessore town today.
Body of Saiful Islam, 48 was found in a sack near the rail crossing of Murali area in the town this morning.
He was hacked to death, said police.
On information from locals, police recovered the body, Sub-Inspector Johurul Haque of Kotwali Police Station told The Daily Star.
Saiful was also accused in several other murder cases, SI Johurul said.
He might have been killed following a feud over smuggling, said the police officer.
On March 6, 1999, a cultural function organised by Udichi Shilpi Goshthi at Jessore Town Hall came under bomb attack that left ten people killed and over a hudred injured.
Dainik Runner Editor Saiful Alam Mukul was killed near his office on the night of August 30, 1998 while he was returning home by a rickshaw.
