It's that time of year again when we talk about the rationality of power tariff hike. According to media reports, Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) has forwarded a proposal to the Energy and Mineral Resources Division (EMRD) that there is need to hike the prices of petroleum products.
Tougher punishment for power sector sabotage
A bill titled 'The Power Bill, 2017' is passed in Parliament keeping a provision of harsher punishment of maximum 10 years' jail and Tk 10 crore fine or both for carrying out any act of sabotage in any electricity infrastructure or installation.
