Students of BCPSC lend support to flood-affected families

The incumbent and former students of Bogura Cantonment Public School and College (BCPSC) have provided relief to 600 flood-affected families in the different char areas of Jamuna recently.

"A group of current and former students of the institution, led by Touhid Parvez Biplob, took this initiative," shared Samiul Hasib Sompad, a student of the 2013-2015 batch.

A former student of the 2001-2003 batch of Bogura Cantonment Public School and College, Biplob, is a national and international award winning professional wild life photographer.

Biplob, the convener of the food distribution programme, shared his thoughts stating that the floods have severely affected people of over 10 districts in the north and northeast, especially the residents of Sariakandi, Dhunat and Sonatala in Bogura.

One of the flood-affected victims, 70-year-old Rabeya Khatun of Batir char, lost everything in the hazard. she expressed her gratitude for their help in these troubling times.

They collected funds from their peers and distributed food packages to each family in the different char areas of Jamuna in Sariakandi. The packages included rice, lentils, potatoes, onions, salt, soap and cooking oil among other necessities. The volunteers maintained social distancing protocols during the relief distribution due to the coronavirus outbreak.

"Students from different batches of the institution worked hard to reach out to the vulnerable families with food, as they had to cross the river on boats to distribute the relief among the flood-hit people in the char areas," shares Biplob. He hopes to continue such initiatives in the future as well.

"We are grateful to our former and current students like Nishad Mondol and Md Rakibul Islam Rakib who helped us financially and mentally in conducting the food distribution programme," concludes Biplob.
