Why are state-run fertiliser factories wasting so much gas?
Four state-run fertiliser factories waste natural gas to such a degree that if the gas -- wasted in 9 days --- were to be used in producing electricity, the amount could have been enough to provide power to the whole country for a day. The factories in question also produce only half as much urea fertilizers as their modern counterparts.
Why do state-run fertilizer factories waste this much gas? How can it be reduced?
In Straight from Star Newsroom, Debjani Shyama and The Daily Star Reporter Asifur Rahman discuss the reason behind this and possible solutions.
