How did cyber criminals get access to CTG port's NBR server?
The National Board of Revenue (NBR) server was infiltrated by cyber criminals, allegedly having access to registered accounts and passwords of current and former officials, creating phantom information about at least 24 consignments.
Investigators are now assessing if the perpetrators used account and password information of more than one current and former officials of NBR, mirroring the security breach of 2019 where thousands of export and import consignments were given green signal without proper inspection.
How exactly did this "highly secure" server get compromised? How concerning is this breach? To what extent are NBR officials accountable? Has any of the perpetrators been identified?
In Straight from Star Newsroom, Farhana Ahmed is joined virtually by Mohammad Suman from The Daily Star's Chittagong office to discuss the cyber infiltration of NBR server in Chittagong Port.
