Battle of Salda through the eyes of a hero
The battle of Salda was one of the most important and valiant battles of our War of Liberation - was fought in the area surrounding the Salda River.
It was an important part of the Dhaka-Chattagram rail lines and its position adjacent to the border made it a strategically important ground to hold control over.
The Battle of Salda was fought by the freedom fighters of the Fourth East Bengal Regiment. Major General Jamil D Ahsan (retired), Bir Protik, PSC, the then Charlie Company Commander of the Fourth East Bengal Regiment tells The Daily Star the story of this valiant battle.
