Anthony Firingee: Portuguese poet who wrote and sang in Bangla
Chandannagar, the most prominent French settlement in the northern side of colonised India - has been immortalised, ironically, by a Portuguese poet - who, going against the essence of colonisation, adopted the native language Bengali to write and sing - Hensman Anthony, or what he was later fondly known as Anthony Firingee.
