Proteas take series 2-1
South Africa sealed a 2-1 victory over visiting New Zealand after a 62-run victory in the third and final one-day international in Kingsmead on Wednesday.
AB de Villiers hit a rapid 64 – bringing up his 8000runs in one-day internationals in his 182nd innings – to lift South Africa to a competitive total of 283 for seven before David Wiese took three wickets for 58 runs as the Kiwis were all out for 221 in 49.2 overs.
In reply, New Zealand kept losing wickets at regular intervals after an 84-run second wicket partnership between Kane Williamson Tom Latham came to an end, with Imran Tahir getting rid of the New Zealand skipper. Latham soon fell to a run-out and the innings lost the steam thereafter.
