Players en route to Mirpur to meet BCB officials
The protesting cricketers are en route to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) headquarters in Mirpur, where they will discuss their demands with board officials.
Immediately following their meeting at a city hotel, a spokesperson on behalf of the players addressed media and said that they had come up with 13 demands, two more than they had initially posited -- including a demand that revenue generated from commercialisation of cricket be shared with players and that similar provisions to the ones demanded for men also apply to women.
Shakib Al Hasan was the only player to address the press, saying the cricketers were hoping a resolution could be quickly reached.
There were positive vibes about a resolution being reached since the afternoon, when BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury spoke to reporters at a press conference.
That was followed by a meeting between Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, BCB president Nazmul Hassan and Cricketers' Welfare Association of Bangladesh (CWAB) president Naimur Rahman at the Gono Bhaban.
The board president has reportedly been eager to speak with the players since that meeting, perhaps another positive sign that a resolution is in sight.
