Enamul on a roll

Former national team striker Enamul Haque is dreaming of a return to the national fold after nearly five years in the shadows. The Muktijoddha skipper, whose last international engagement was with the Bangladesh Olympic team  in the 2010 Asian Games, has had a lengthy  patch of lean form in local circuit since joining Sheikh Jamal DC at the end of a prolific 2009-2010 season.
But the 31-year-old striker seems to have turned a corner this season, having already bagged eight goals in seven matches – five in the Federation Cup and three more in the first two matches of the Bangladesh Premier League including a brace at the Bangabandhu National Stadium yesterday as the All Reds beat Chittagong Abahani 2-1 to notch maximum points from two outings.
“Returning to the national team depends on the national team management but I want to make sure that I do the job from my end,” the veteran said about his national-team ambitions after yesterday's match.
The sharpshooter scored the equaliser early in the second half after Mamadou Lamaranna had given the port city side the lead deep into the injury time of the first half. Enamul volleyed home Camara Sabra's tee-up from the edge of the box in the 53rd minute for the equaliser before snatching the decider with a powerful drive in the 84th minute.
“Last season I played in a wide-attacking position. But this time I am playing in my favourite centre-forward role and hence getting goals ,” Enamul explained later.

ABAHANI PUT 4 PAST FENI
On a day dominated by Enamul, Abahani notched their first win on the league with a 4-0 drubbing of Feni Soccer Club. The Sky Blues, who were held to a 2-2 draw by Rahmatganj MFS in their opening fixture, rode on a brace from Hungarian forward Szabolcs Csorba and one goal each from Gabor Demjen and Mamun Mia to announce their title credentials.
