Following the latest clashes between India and Pakistan where exchange of heavy artillery took place along their contested frontier, there may be inevitable consequences to cricket in the subcontinent.

A Times of India report had recently read that the 2025 Asia Cup and India's white-ball tour of Bangladesh were in doubt. The report quoted an unnamed source and following yesterday's development, the BCB will have concerns over how things will pan out.

Bangladesh are set to play a two-match T20 series on May 17 and 19 against UAE at Sharjah before they depart for Pakistan to play a five-match T20I series from May 25 to June 3 in Faisalabad and Lahore.

BCB sources have said that the conflict between the subcontinental nations is still developing and in the coming days they will be able to gauge the situation better.

"It happened yesterday and we have not discussed anything related to these developments. We have not been informed that matches will not be taking place," a BCB official said.

"Of course many things may be suspended or face changes as this does not only affect cricket," the official added.

Reports on Wednesday have said that several airlines were re-routing or cancelling flights to and from Europe in light of yesterday's fighting. Two dozen commercial flights were diverted to avoid Pakistan airspace, the reports had read.

Bangladesh have a busy cricketing schedule ahead. After the Pakistan series, Tigers are set to tour Sri Lanka. Following that, Pakistan are set to tour Bangladesh in July, a series outside of FTP schedule and right after that India are set to tour Bangladesh for the white-ball tour.

India are scheduled to arrive in Bangladesh on August 13 and if the security scenario deteriorates, it may see an impact on cricket.

"We have understanding with the cricket boards according to FTP commitments. It is still a political matter and if a concern comes, it will be addressed," another board official said.
