Prantik Nawrose Nabil, a member of Bangladesh's U19 World Cup winning team in 2020, made a shocking revelation on Wednesday as he retired from all forms of cricket due to 'personal reasons' at the age of only 21.

The southpaw confirmed his decision to The Daily Star over the phone. Nabil, who is studying in the International Relations department of the University of Dhaka, said he would now concentrate on his studies

"It's true that I have decided to retire and I have already left cricket," Nabil told The Daily Star, mentioning that he has already relayed his decision to the concerned people.

Although Nabil didn't disclose the reason in detail, he said he will address the media in a press conference tomorrow where he is expected to shed more light on the matter.

However, it was learned that due to some health issues, the youngster had to decide to retire from cricket.

Nabil couldn't play a single game in the U19 World Cup in South Africa in 2020 but his interviews for the ICC's social media received applause from all.

Nabil later also represented the junior Tigers in the next U19 World Cup in 2022 in the West Indies, making 84 runs in six matches.

He also made his first-class debut for Khulna Division in the same year. Nabil scored 305 and 633 runs in the seven first-class and 28 List A matches respectively in his short career.

Nabil's appearance for Mohammedan against Sheikh Jamal in a Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League on March 30 last year would now go down as his final game in competitive cricket. He scored 14 runs in that match.
