Salma Khatun stars in World Cup’s best eleven
Salma Khatun of Bangladesh earned a spot in the star-studded Most Valuable Team of the Tournament, based on her consistent performance in the just-concluded ICC Women's Cricket World Cup, held in New Zealand.
Today, the International Cricket Council (ICC) released the all-star eleven, which features players from Australian, South Africa, England and the West Indies alongside Bangladesh's Salma. A six-person selection panel, comprising journalists, commentators –the likes of former England captain Nasser Hussain-- and ICC representative, were involved in picking the Team of the Tournament.
Salma has been the most economical bowler among the ones who bowled more than 20 overs during the 12th edition of the mega event. The off spinner all-rounder scalped 10 wickets in seven matches for Bangladesh, playing their maiden ODI World Cup campaign, as the Tigresses stood seventh in the 8-team tournament by beating the eight-placed Pakistan and having fought on level terms against South Africa, West Indies and, to some extent, against Australia, the eventual champions.
