Two players in Tigers’ skill camp show Covid-19-like symptoms
Two out the 27 cricketers in the Bangladesh team skill camp have shown Covid-19-like symtopms and as per the BCB's guideline, the symptomatic players along with those who were in close contact with them, have been isolated, a BCB media release informed.
The cricketers along with coaches and team management had undergone coronavirus tests on September 18 and 19 and previously were known to be 'negative'. Following the tests, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) yesterday announced a 27-member skill camp, to begin at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium today.
BCB arranged for a bio-secure bubble ahead of the scheduled three-Test series against Sri Lanka.
The BCB media release said: "As per the Covid-19 management guideline and to maintain Bio-Secure Environment standards, the symptomatic individual along with all the players who have been in close contact with him recently, have been isolated until the next test on 22 September."
While the affected players were not named, the media release read "two cases have been identified as 'borderline negative' with one of them showing classical Covid-19-like symptoms".
BCB were still waiting for a response from Sri Lanka regarding a revised virus protocol for the series after BCB president Nazmul Hassan had earlier informed that it would not be possible for Bangladesh to follow the 'historically unique' health protocol sent by the SLC, especially the mandatory 14-day quarantine for the visitors.
According to BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury, the SLC officials had informed BCB that they had a fruitful meeting with the concerned government authority and that the BCB was hoping to receive a feedback within the next couple of days.
