SLC requests Ministry of Health to relax safety guidelines
The Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has appealed to the country's Ministry of Health to relax safety guidelines for Bangladesh's planned tour of the Island nation later this month.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Nazmul Hassan had earlier mentioned that it would not be possible to tour Sri Lanka under the strict and unique health protocols set by SLC.
Following BCB's response regarding the strict protocols, Namal Rajapaksa, the cabinet minister of youth affairs and sports, tweeted and seemed to be seeking to resolve the conflict between the two boards.
And according to a report by Sri Lankan newspaper The Island, SLC formally wrote to the Health Ministry asking the possibilities of relaxed quarantine guidelines after discussions between SLC chief Shammi Silva and Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa.
The same news outlet also reports that the SLC has appealed to reduce the 14-day quarantine period to seven days and also requested to increase the number of the touring party from 30 to 35. However, SLC would not be able to do anything if the Health Ministry refuses to comply, reported Sri Lankan media.
