‘Shakib injury doesn’t seem serious but he will undergo a scan today’
Premier all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, who suffered a groin injury during Bangladesh's third and final ODI against the West Indies on Monday, will undergo a scan today. However, BCB chief physician Dr. Debashish Chowdhury mentioned that his injury does not seem anything serious.
"I do not think it is anything serious but we will still do a scan today. We can confirm anything after that," said the BCB chief physician.
Shakib was kept under observation for 48 hours after the left-armer had left the field following the injury in the final ODI against the West Indies.
The incident took place when Shakib came in to bowl the fifth delivery of the 30th over. Having bowled the delivery, he collapsed in pain. The physio attended to the ace all-rounder and after Shakib got up, he could not go through any lunges or jogs and left the field.
Shakib had said that the condition of the injury did not "look very good" during the post-match press conference after the Tigers had completed a 3-0 series sweep with a 120-run victory in the final ODI at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram.
Bangladesh are scheduled to play the first of their two-match Test series against the Windies at the same venue on February 3.
