Shakib scores just close to the benchmark score of 11 in beep test, clarifies BCB

Bangladesh ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has scored just close to the benchmark score of 11 in the beep test today, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) clarified.
It was however announced by BCB fitness trainer Tushar Kanti Howlader earlier on the day that Shakib had scored above 13 points in the beep test. Later it was learned that Shakib obtained 13.7 -- highest among the players who gave the beep test as a prerequisite for taking part in the upcoming Bangabandhu T20 Cup later this month.
Shakib scoring highest in the beep test after returning from a year-long ban had created a massive hype among fans and the media. But hours later, it was clarified by the BCB that the premier all-rounder has just scored close to the benchmark score of 11.
Pacer Mehedi Hasan remains the one with the top score in the beep test with his score of 13.6 while Nihad Uz Zaman' 13.4 is the second-best.
Shakib had been out on the sidelines following his one-year ban from all forms of cricket. The all-rounder had trained at the BKSP since September this year to prepare for the tour of Sri Lanka, which was then cancelled.
Shakib is currently gearing up for the Bangabandhu T20 Cup, with the players' draft for the tournament set to take place on November 12 (Thursday).
