Nasir, Gazi fail fitness test
The second and final day of the mandatory fitness test of the cricketers outside the national, high performance, and under-19 side, completed today, saw Nasir Hossain amongst one of the big names to fail the beep test.
The out of favor national all-rounder, who previously failed the fitness test ahead of the National Cricket League (NCL) last season once again disappointed with his fitness.
The 28-year-old could only manage to obtain 8.5 in the beep test where the benchmark for the test was set to eleven to be eligible to take part in the upcoming Bangabandhu T20 Cup.
Another national discard off-spinning all-rounder Sohag Gazi too failed the fitness test for the second consecutive day. However, the experienced cricketers with the likes of Abdur Razzak, Enamul Haque, and Mohammad Ashraful all managed to reach the eleven-point mark in the beep test.
Meanwhile ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is expected to undergo the fitness test tomorrow. Shakib did not take part in the beep test on Monday after the national team physio Julian Calefato wanted to assess the champion cricketer's condition ahead of the test following a one-year ban.
The players' draft of the upcoming Bangabandhu T20 Cup will take place on November 12 and the Bangladesh Cricket Board CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury informed that they have almost finalised all the procedures of the draft which will take place at a city hotel.
He also informed that the board is in talks with the government authorities regarding whether to allow spectators in the ground for the tournament. The BCB is considering the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium as the venue for the tournament and is doing slight adjustments before announcing the schedule.
