Mushfiqur surpasses Mashrafe
Wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim surpassed former ODI skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza and became the Bangladeshi player with most ODIs played. The 33-year-old achieved the feat when he stepped onto the field in the third and final ODI against the West Indies at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram today.
Mushfiqur had already surpassed Mashrafe in playing the most number of ODIs in Bangladesh colors during the Tigers' first ODI against the West Indies on January 20 in Mirpur.
Mashrafe played a total of 220 ODIs in his career. The former ODI skipper had, however, played 218 of those in Bangladesh colors while playing two ODIs for Asia XI against Africa XI in 2007.
And today, playing in his 221st ODI, Mushfiqur became the player with most number of ODIs played by any Bangladeshi.
Only two other players have played more than 200 ODIs for Bangladesh. Tamim Iqbal has played 210 ODIs while Shakib Al Hasan has played 209 ODIs.
