Kiwis bat first in dead rubber

New Zealand have won the toss and elected to bat first in the third and final ODI at Wellington today.

Having won the series already with a 2-0 unassailable lead, the Kiwis have made just one change for this match, bringing in Ross Taylor, who missed the first two matches through injury in place of Will Young. Bangladesh meanwhile have brought in pacer Rubel Hossain in place of all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin.

Taylor is the highest run-getter for the Kiwis against the Tigers and Kiwis will be looking to score big runs and whitewash Bangladesh at home. The Tigers' captain was not a happy chap at the toss having looked at the green top but Kiwis batting first might give the Bangladesh batsmen some time to ponder about the pitch.

"We haven't played an ODI here but we have played a Test," Tamim said when asked about the green surface. "I will like New Zealand to come to Bangladesh where we have spinning wickets."

Back at home, the country celebrates 50 years of its independence today and the Tigers will have no shortage of inspiration to go and clinch what would be their first ever victory on Kiwi soil against the hosts.

The New Zealand Cricket board (NZC) congratulated Bangladesh and the players on the occasion of the country's golden jubilee as both teams lined up before the start of the game with the national anthem of both countries played to celebrate the occasion.
