Imrul, Chadwick hand second BPL win to Chattogram
Chattogram Challengers won their second BBPL game this season, defeating Rangpur Rangers by six wickets at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur today.
Rangpur were sent in to bat and lost opener Mohammad Shahzad early but other opener Mohammad Naim Sheikh, who had plundered a 48-ball 81 in the third match of the recent T20I series against India, once again rose above the rest, hitting a 54-ball 78, laced with six fours and three sixes. Captain Mohammad Nabi with 21 was the only other notable contributor with the bat as Rangers posted 157 for eight. Kesrick Williams picked up two wickets for Chattogram.
Chattogram openers Chadwick Walton and Avishka Fernando got their team off to a fine start in chase with a 68-run opening partnership. Fernando fell after scoring a 23-ball 37 and Chadwick followed him back but not before a 41-run partnership with Imrul Kayes, upon scoring a 50 off 34.
Captain Mahmudullah then struck 15 but there was no chance for Nabi's men as Imrul saw his team through to their second win of the tournament courtesy of a 33-ball 44 with six wickets and 10 deliveries to spare, hitting three fours and two sixes during his innings.
