BD U-19 tie against Eng U-19
An unbeaten century from Bangladesh batsman Towhid Hridoy helped the young Tigers tie their one-day match against England in the ongoing Tri-Nation Under-19s Tournament -- featuring Bangladesh, England and India -- in Beckenham, England yesterday.
Earlier, after being asked to bat, the hosts posted a 256-run total for the loss of seven wickets in their allotted 50 overs despite losing wickets at regular intervals, courtesy of a 143-ball 122 from batsman Jordan Cox. Left-arm spinner Rakibul Hasan was the pick of the bowlers for the young Tigers, returning figures of three for 33.
In their chase, Bangladesh lost the wickets of openers Tanzid Hasan (23) and Parvez Hossain (12) cheaply. However, Towhid soon made amends with his patiently collected 131-ball 104, which featured nine boundaries. Shahadat Hossain chipped in with a fine 103-ball 76 but after that the young Tigers could only limp to a draw with Towhid taking two runs off the last ball bowled by England's George Hill.
