Draw against Pakistan in Khulna the best: Tamim
Bangladesh ODI skipper Tamim Iqbal, in his attempt to keep fans and people in general entertained during this crisis, held a Facebook live interaction with former South Africa captain Faf du Plesis as the duo shared some of their stories and titbits from their careers. At one point during the video chat late on Wednesday night, Tamim reminisced about the Test that he claimed to be the best among the 60 Tests he played for the country till date.
It was a Test against Pakistan in Khulna in 2015 which the Tigers went on to draw, thanks to Tamim and Imrul Kayes's incredible 312-run opening stand – the highest opening stand in Tests by Bangladeshi openers.
Tamim, who scored his career-best 206 in that match, picked that as one of his favourites after Faf had just finished talking fondly about his debut Test experience.
"I think it is one of my favourite Test matches. We were playing Pakistan and in Khulna. I think you have not been to Khulna. So, we were trailing by almost 280 or close to 300 runs and still had a day and a half to go.
"Mushy [Mushfiqur Rahim] got injured in that game and Imrul Kayes had to keep for almost 160 overs. And then in 10 minutes he had to come back and open innings with me. We had a record partnership which is still a record for the highest second innings opening stand. We had a partnership of 312 and Imrul went on to score 150 and we actually managed to draw that Test match. It was the best Test match that I ever played in," Tamim recalled.
Tamim, who had just registered the highest individual score -- at that time -- by a Bangladeshi batsman, was declared player of the match for his incredible double ton and it was not at all surprising to see the left-hander recall it very fondly.
