‘DPL clubs are advised to pay 50 per cent of players’ payment’

The Cricketer's Welfare Association of Bangladesh (CWAB), in presence of a few national and first-class cricketers, held a virtual meeting yesterday with the Chairman of CCDM Kazi Inam Ahmed and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury, discussing different issues ranging from players' payment for the halted DPL to the resumption of the domestic league following the coronavirus pandemic. 

The DPL was halted due to the coronavirus pandemic after the completion of the first round in March. CCDM chairman Inam advised the clubs to remain in constant touch with the players and for them to pay 50 per cent of the players' money.   

"Yesterday I attended a meeting with CWAB and several national team and first-class cricketers. We spoke about a possible start of the DPL. At this point, we can't confirm a date but we want the DPL clubs to be in regular touch virtually with players to make sure the players can maintain fitness. The clubs should be prepared to start the league when the situation is suitable with a short notice of 15 days. 

"Also players of Brothers Union and Partex raised concerns that they have not received payments this season. CCDM had already advised the clubs to pay 50% payment before the start of the league despite the fact that players' payments this season are under direct contract with teams," Inam was quoted as saying in a statement following the meeting. 

The meeting unanimously came to the decision that BCB will be making the final decision regarding the resumption of the DPL and national team's practice and tours after monitoring the current coronavirus situation.
