Fake army men held

Police arrested four fake army men in Barobagha area under Bagatipara upazila yesterday morning. The arrestees are Raihan Mahbub Alal, 35, son of Nur Islam of Santinagar village in Bogra, Uzzal Hossain Moni, 28, son of Abdul Majid of Ratal village in Naogaon, Rubel Islam, 27, son of Insar Ali of Charghat village and Ainal Haq, 25, son of Helal Uddin, of Durgapur village in Rajshahi. Aminul Islam, officer in-charge of Bagatipara police station, said on secret information, a police team raided the area and arrested the four while they tried to harass one Altaf Uddin's family identifying themselves as army officials.

Five bombs seized

Police seized five bombs from water development board area in the district town on Monday night. On information, a police team seized the bombs from the area in an abandoned condition. However, none was arrested, said officer in-charge Iqbal Bahar Chowdhury of Sadar police station.

10 hurt in clash
Unb, Manikganj

At least 10 people were injured in a clash between two rival groups over a piece of disputed land at Gopalpur village in Sadar upazila on Monday. Police and locals said there had been a longstanding dispute between Khedon Mia and his stepbrother Mofiz Uddin of the village over the land. The clash ensued following an altercation between their supporters in the afternoon. At one stage, the two groups, equipped with lethal weapons, attacked each other, leaving ten people from both sides injured.

3 JMB men arrested

Police arrested three alleged operatives of Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) in Nachole upazila early yesterday. The arrestees were identified as Mozammel Haque, 56, son of Abdus Sattar, his younger brother Afzal Hossain, 50, and Mozammel's son Md Sumon, 19, of Furshedpur village in Nachole municipal area. Sanaul Haque, officer-in-charge of Nachole Police Station said, acting on a tip-off a police team raided the house of one Mozammel around 12:30am and arrested him along with his younger brother and son for their alleged involvement with the militant outfit.
