TARIQ ANAM KHAN

An award winning television and theatre actor, director, writer and producer of Bangladesh, Tariq Anam Khan has a long list of achievements. Born in May 10, 1953, he is the eldest son from the reputed “Khan” family. He won the “Bangladesh National Film Award-2014” for Best Actor in negative role for the movie “Desha: The Leader” and “Critics Choice Awards-2012” for Best Actor for “Ghetuputra Kamola” in 15th Meril Prothom Alo Awards, 2013.

Inspiration:

I am blessed with an indisputably favorable, culture-oriented background. The custom of reading various types of newspapers introduced me with the real world, gradually helped me to grow my interest in writing, news publishing, and researching. My uncle is also my inspiration. The appreciation I got from my surroundings for playing, reciting, and participating in all other cultural activities in school life was extremely inspirational. It has given me the spirit to do something different, to serve for the society; maybe participating in liberation war was a consequence of it. The open window taught me to feel the nature, the open field taught me to smell the green and the open sky taught me to think beyond the world. This led me to touch the luxury of art and beauty. Therefore, my family and the overall atmosphere is my inspiration.

Philosophy:

I believe in serving people. It awards me the ethereal spirit, a peace which is superior to this material world. The inner gratification I find by working for my society, my surroundings, as well as working for mankind is inexpressible. I always keep myself ready to take challenges. So, I never give up even if I fail to reach out to my desired goals. I also believe in living with simplicity and higher thinking.

Views on His Profession:

The colossal beauty of art is its intensity, a strength that is divine, an expression that has an immeasurable depth. Some may articulate it by reciting, some by singing, or may be by dancing, acting and all other forms of art. In our country's perspective, it is very risky to take acting as a profession. Acting is both my passion and profession. Therefore, creative artists should keep in mind that there is a difference between thinking of commerce and being commercial. Till now, theatre has been the only source from where acting can be learnt and practiced congruously. Accordingly, our socio-economic condition seems like a major obstacle, there is some business mechanism to be understood. Our film industry could bring a drastic change by keeping the commercial factors in mind and making good and successful movies as well. I think, at least fifty percent of our young generation is eagerly waiting for scopes, having hope in mind to utilize their latent talents.

Music:

Hemanta Mukhopadhyay, Manna Dey, Shyamal Mitra are my top most favorite singers. Rabindra sangeet has a magical charm which never fails to amaze me. Flute is another heavenly wonder, a soul, a mysterious melody in which I find celestial peace.

Film:

I love to watch movies of Satyajit Ray, Ritwik Ghatak and Mrinal Sen. I also watch Hollywood, Bollywood, Italian and Iranian movies. An old Hollywood movie "The Godfather" is one of my favorites.

Books:

The novels of Rabindranath Tagore eternally charms me. Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay, Ashutosh Mukhopadhyay, Ashapoorna Devi are my favorite writers. "Feluda" by Satyajit Ray is one of my exceptionally favorite books.

Future Plans:

I usually prefer to play unique roles in single television dramas. Recently, I am done with the movie "Peyarar Subash" by Nurul Alam Atique. I am also coming as a very guest appearance in another upcoming movie, as a father of a girl.

Idol:

Ever since childhood, I have found a new idol in each individual stage of my life. Consequently, I have gotten so many idols in various spheres of my life. Satyajit Ray, Mrinal Sen, Uttam Kumar, Syed Hasan Imam, Khan Ataur Rahman; all of them are remarkably motivational to my work. But, the person whose legendary contribution has a rigorous inspiration in my life is none but Rabindranath Tagore. His revolutionary creations encourage me to taste the freedom in life.
