Unrestricted by lingual or geographical boundaries, Usha Uthup has enthralled audiences with her joie de vivre and ageless voice for over 50 years.

The vocalist has no qualms in admitting that her stints in mainstream Hindi cinema help her perform in live shows. "I'm not looking at singing many numbers; just one Bollywood song in six months gives me an opportunity to perform in 375 shows." Elaborating about the audience's taste, she says, "Whatever the generation, their hearts beat the same. They always demand to hear retro songs. My listeners comprise a cross section of people and that has kept me going till date." When quizzed about the one thing that she still aspires to do, she smiles, "I want to sing for our armed forces on the border."
