Things you shouldn't do on a river cruise

It's not just limited to a river cruise. As long as you are on a vessel that can float on water and is carrying you and others from one point to another across a water body, it is best if you avoid doing certain things that might take the fun out of the ride.
ASKING PEOPLE IF THEY CAN SWIM
Imagine yourself on a boat, miles away from land, in the middle of the ocean. You are enjoying the scenic view from the deck when suddenly, a random guy pops out of nowhere and asks you if you can swim. The serenity will turn into something sinister. Usually when you see such a conversation taking place in a movie, it's probably because the villain wants to throw the protagonist off the boat. You probably aren't the villain in your own story and are just asking them if they can swim or not to assure yourself that they will come to your rescue if you end up in the water. Sadly, they might not perceive the same thought and are more likely to regret ever bumping into you.
TALKING ABOUT THE TITANIC
As we all know, the RMS Titanic did not have a happy ending. It was one of the biggest and most tragic ship wrecks of all time when the mighty vessel went down back in 1912. After ten decades, one Oscar winning movie and its 3D reboot later, it is still one of the first things that comes to our mind every time we think about being on a ship. Given its tragic backstory, talking about a ship that was deemed as 'unsinkable' on a run of the mill ordinary ship or boat might make people frown. Of course, there is no way you are going to find a 50 foot tall iceberg in the middle of the Buriganga. It's just that people might think that you are either concerned about the ship's quality or that you might have a death wish. Let that thought sink in.
DOING THE 'TITANIC POSE'
The movie was a huge success among the masses and is still quite popular to this day. The iconic moment when Jack and Rose do that thing by standing at the railing of the ship is a popular pose performed by lovebirds even today. That being said, don't try doing this on your journey. That scene in the movie probably took a lot of takes to be perfected and was of course done in a studio This, however, is real life where you don't get takes, because YOLO.
BEING OBLIVIOUS TO YOUR SURROUNDINGS
It's a ship, not your classroom. You cannot just leave your mind elsewhere and remain oblivious to what's going on around you. Especially when you are on the deck. There are a lot of things that can take you by surprise such as the ship's horn. It has enough decibels to sweep you off your feet and into the cold, polluted water. Then there are other things you need to watch out for like the railings, rope lying on the deck and so on.
So, stay safe and don't try this on a boat.
