Remember TOONAMI?

If you were a part of the early 2000s generation, then the word 'Toonami' might hit you right in the nostalgia. I remember how I used to wait eagerly for 5 pm so that I could watch Cartoon Network. The Toonami block of Cartoon Network was easily the most popular block the channel had (at least, in our country). When a channel shows Dragon Ball Z, Pokemon, Digimon, Gundam Wing etc. you are bound to love it.
What made Toonami so special for me was that it had all my favorite cartoons back to back. My favorite combination was when they showed Pokemon followed by Beyblade and Dragon Ball Z. Whenever Toonami started nothing else in the world mattered. Sundays to Thursdays had a fixed schedule that had a slot for Toonami and whenever the weekends came, sadness overwhelmed me. Those were the days when television meant a lot since we had no such a
thing as 'streaming'.
Toonami played an important part in the lives of cartoon/anime lovers in Bangladesh. Back then, we had no other medium to watch these shows that we loved so much. Although Animax came after a few years, nothing could beat Toonami. From shows like Teen Titans, Samurai Jack to the classics like Dragon Ball Z, Digimon, One Piece and Naruto etc., Toonami had the best collection.
We all wanted powers like Goku or to have an epic adventure like Ash, and Toonami gave us that hope. We would actually watch every episode rather than waiting for the season to end to binge-watch.
Nothing comes close to the feeling we got watching these shows episode by episode and then discussing them with our friends at school, eagerly waiting for the next episode. Maybe someday, Cartoon Network will revive the Toonami block but till then it's up to us to retell the amazing experiences we had with the fantastic Toonami.
