WandaVision: Not your typical Marvel show

As you can see from the title, you should expect something very different. Marvel has a history of formulating their shows, which makes most of them predictable and boring to some. However, this show not only throws away its old formula but also has the potential to glue in the existing and many new viewers into the world of superheroes.

First thing first, I would like to acknowledge that this show focuses more on the characters rather than the huge multiverse and new rogues' gallery fans are dying for. However, I can say that it will leave the majority of the fans satisfied when they get to the ending. The thing I loved most about the series is its symbolism. Pain and tragedy can change people, make them do things they do not want to do and destroy them piece by piece as they try to recover what they lost. The show also shows that even the most powerful beings can be the most fragile. Thus, everyone needs love and something to live for.

Secondly, for the fans looking for new heroes, villains and new threats to come, worry not, WandaVision has that too. WandaVision introduces us to S.W.O.R.D – Sentient World Observation and Research Department. Comic readers know that this means The Avengers are going inter-galactic and with the introduction of Skrulls in Captain Marvel, something big is to come. The show also hints towards the Mutants being introduced to the MCU.

Even with all the good, WandaVision has some very big letdowns. The show will make fans theorise about what may or may not happen in the end. Sometimes when fans do not get what they predict, it leads to more disappointment than shock. Furthermore, some of the villains here are given so little growth that they end up being unrealistic and generic by the finale.

In conclusion, WandaVision is by far Marvel's riskiest venture yet as they throw out their old generic format to focus on a more puzzle-based format. Even though this is one of their strongest sides, it is also one of its weakest sides as a few of the big reveals are predictable and Vision, being dead, is walking around and talking. Even with its flaws, it gives one of the most satisfying results while maintaining a bright and comedic sitcom feel by the end. With the exception of a delightful ending, it promises a lot more different and unconventional shows that Disney has to offer.

This show also lets viewers know that Marvel cannot wait to show what they have in store. If you are new to Marvel, do give this a watch and if you are a fan since Iron Man, you have to give this a watch.
