Prof Charalabos Doumanidis joins BRACU as Vice President for Research
Brac University has recently appointed Professor Charalabos (Haris) Doumanidis as Brac University's inaugural Vice President for Research.
Professor Doumanidis has a distinguished track record as an academic and an administrator in the US and international institutions. He has been a prolific researcher -- able to attract research funding -- and recognised for his excellence in teaching.
He will initially focus on building Brac University's research infrastructure and helping its international and national profile grow, according to a press release.
Before joining Brac University, Professor Doumanidis was the Marie Curie Distinguished Professor and served as the Founding Dean of the College of Engineering and Computer Science at Vin University in Vietnam. Before that, he was Vice Provost for Research at Nazarbayev University in Kazakhstan.
Welcoming Professor Doumanidis to Brac University, Vice-Chancellor Professor Vincent Chang said, "Research with impact is one of the core initiatives in our journey to become a global university from Bangladesh, and Professor Doumanidis' joining would help us achieve that goal."
