In an age where people are increasingly moving away from board games, I would call myself a scrabble dealer. I’ve had to resort to strangers online, which is never a good decision, except in the case of Words with Friends.
Words with Friends 2 is a competitive word game app. The game provides various different modes to choose from. There’s the Smart Match, where you play against others, choosing between Fast Play- a smaller board with a 24hr time limit per word, or Classic- regular-sized board, 10 day time limit. Then there’s Solo Challenge, which has limited edition difficulty labelled bots that you have to outscore in 5 moves, and Practice mode which lets you play a classic match against a regular bot.
The game includes power-ups such as Swap without passing, Screen Radar- check where you can play words, and Hindsight- see what the best word to play would have been after each move. You earn badges for every Solo Challenge you complete, and there are long-running Events that also reward you with chests full of power-ups and coins.
Everything on the game needs internet, except Practice mode, which is also not a great way to pass time, unless your patience game is extra strong, since that bot takes two whole minutes per move.
