Inventive Bangladeshi Clothing Ideas
Every Eid, the markets get flooded with people looking for that perfect dress they'll eventually take 4923756 selfies in on Eid day. And if that perfect dress isn't in the market, they'll make one after arguing for 3 weeks on end with a tailor who already has too much on his plate.
But then they complain about not standing out too much because their outfit wasn't unique enough, and that's where they start bringing in outlandish fashion ideas.
PAKHI DRESS (BUT A BIT MORE LITERAL)
Remember the whole pakhi dress debacles of a few years back? Where literal tears were shed and punches thrown over obtaining some silly outfit that was supposed to be the pinnacle of Eid fashion? Now what if we took that concept and made it very literal? Slap some wings on that dress, and you're good to go.
Maybe throw in some feathers too and everyone's gonna stop to look at you twice. Maybe practice some birdcalls, but maybe not too well so you don't run the risk of confusing some real birds thinking you're a prospective mate. Accidentally ending up covered in bird droppings and getting pecked at all day isn't a fun way to spend Eid.
BATTLE SHERWANIS
With the release of Black Panther, the average Bangali moviegoer kept asking which shop at Elephant road do the Wakandans shop at, and then obsessively showing 240p screenshots of weird angles of Chadwick Boseman standing fashionably to their tailors in hopes to recreate it.
Now I ask, what's stopping you from taking a different approach to this? You're looking at the wrong outfit, take some of the Black Panther suits and ask your tailor to incorporate some of those designs into your sherwanis. Now you're ready for both Eid and combat versus your cousins to get that sweet salami from your rich distant relatives.
THE PANJABI-LUNGI HYBRID
Have you ever wanted to dress high fashion but felt uncomfortable? Did you want to spice things up by dressing deshi, but comfortable? This is where the panjabi-lungi hybrid comes in, where your panjabi is so long you have a nice lungi built into it for maximum comfort. It helps that a lungi can be more extravagantly designed than a simple pyjama. So, swap out your boring outfits for something that lets a little more air inside this summer heat.
Even the ladies can get in on this by just writing away the lungi as a long skirt and pretending the panjabi is a fancier kameez. And best of all, you can easily DIY this with your dad's lungis and your panjabis right at home.
If anyone from the notable fashion brands around the world is reading these, you're welcome for the ideas. Of course, I'm no fashion designer but I'm sure if a big name fashion company picks it up, these well sell. Right, guys? No?
