ULAB hosts 4th DEH Inter-University Student Conference and Cultural Competition
The Department of English and Humanities (DEH) at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) held its 4th Inter-University Student Conference and Cultural Competition on April 21-22, 2018 to commemorate 200 years of the Brontë siblings - Charlotte, Emily, Anne, and Branwell. The event featured student representatives from eleven public and private universities. Dr. Sohana Manzoor, Assistant Professor at DEH was the Convener of the event.
The programme was divided into two sessions – academic and cultural. The academic sessions of Day 1 included research paper presentations by students from universities. Day 2 of the conference was dedicated to the relevant dramatic performances by seven teams from the participating universities.
The paper by S.M. Mahfuzur Rahman from BRAC University was judged as the Best Academic Presentation, while Jacklin Bose from ULAB was the runner-up. In the Cultural Competition, Dhaka University was judged as the Best Performers, while University of Asia Pacific came second.
Faye Nicholls, teaching centre manager of British Council, Bangladesh graced the occasion as the chief guest, and attended the prize-giving and the closing ceremony. The VC of ULAB Prof. Jahirul Haque also attended the ceremony that ended with a vote of thanks from the Head of DEH, Prof. Dr. Shamsad Mortuza.
