Minister of Road Transport and Bridges delivers lecture at AIUB

Minister of Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader MP delivered a lecture on “Road Transport ACT 2018” under the auspices of Dr. Anwarul Abedin Lecture Series held on November 18, 2019 in the Auditorium of American International University Bangladesh (AIUB). The lecture series is organised in honour of the late Founder and Chairman of AIUB Dr. Anwarul Abedin. The discussion focused more on the “Road Safety” and “Road Transport ACT 2018”. Nadia Anwar, Chairman of the BOT delivered a warm welcome to the distinguished speakers and the audience. This was followed by the formal introduction of the Minister by Vice President Academics and Dean, Faculty of Business Administration Prof. Dr. Charles C. Villanueva. After a very informative speech by the Minister, he was presented with a plaque of appreciation by Chairman of the BOT Nadia Anwar.

Admission opens at EDU for Spring 2020

East Delta University (EDU), the world-class research university in Chattogram, has opened the admission process of Spring 2020 semester of the university. Applications can be made until December 12, 2019.

EDU has established its campus in East Nasirabad, Khulshi with an exceptional architectural style surrounded by greenery. The field of teaching follows the North American curriculum, and some professors have teaching experience at various renowned universities in the world.

There is a chance to see the activities of large organisations of other countries through the International Graduate Leadership Experience Program. There is also the Access Academy, where students develop basic subjects like English, Mathematics and Social Norms.

There are 10 scholarships for talented and economically vulnerable students. In the last eleven years, EDU authorities have awarded a total of BDT 18 crore in bursary. The admission for undergraduate programme of BBA, English, Economics, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Telecommunication Engineering; and the Master’s programs – MBA, MA in English, MSc in CSE and Master of Public Policy and Leadership have begun.

IUB student becomes champion in Toastmaster Int’l contest

Yusra Binte Sikandar, a student of School of Life Sciences (SLS) of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) won the title of Division L Champion in Humorous Speech Contest 2019 under Toastmasters International (TI). The event, named “Ebullience 2019”, was held in Cox’s Bazar from November 15-16, 2019. Yusra will be representing Bangladesh in Oration 2020 (TI District 41 Conference) in May 2020 at New Delhi, India against division champions of Bhutan, Nepal, and India.

Division L is made up of all 16 Toastmaster clubs of Bangladesh distributed under five areas namely Area L1, L2, L3, L4, and L5. The competition was participated by five Area Champions. All these Area Champions, at first, had to win in their respective club levels and then had to win in their area levels as well to represent their respective areas in the divisional competition. Yusra belongs to IUB Toastmasters Club under Area L3.
