AIUB holds Job Fair 2016 

American International University – Bangladesh (AIUB) organised the annual AIUB Job Fair 2016 on December 3, 2016 at the AIUB FBA Building, Banani, Dhaka. The VC of AIUB Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna and Vice Chairman, BOT, Nadia Anwar inaugurated the daylong fair. More than 90 renowned national and multinational companies including banks, IT solutions, mobile operators, networking solution providers, pharmaceuticals, leasing & finance companies, call centers, automobile companies, real estate companies, job portals, agro-based companies, accessories and equipment companies and some FMCGs also participated. 

AIUB Job Fair is organised every year to create a platform for the AIUB Alumni and future graduates to facilitate their smooth entry into the corporate world. This flagship event has been hosted by the Office of Placement and Alumni under the leadership and guidance of founder and Chairman Ishtiaque Abedin, Founder & Vice President (HRD), Treasurer Dr. Hasanul A. Hasan, and founder and Vice Chairman Nadia Anwar. 

Among others, Vice President (Academics) Prof. Dr. Tafazzal Hossain, Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Charles C. Villanueva, Registrar, Deans, Directors, Departmental Heads, Teachers, other senior officials and students including Directors and representatives of the participating Companies were also present. This event was hosted by the Office of Placement and Alumni of AIUB and Director (OPA); Roomee Tareque Moudud coordinated the whole programme.

NSU observes World Aids Day 2016

The Public Health and Sciences Club of North South University (NSU) observed World AIDS Day 2016 on December 1, 2016. The programme began with a rally led by Azim Uddin Ahmed, Chairman, BOT, NSU, Prof. Atiqul Islam, VC, Prof. Dr. G U Ahsan, Dean, School of Health & Life Sciences and Prof. M. Emdadul Huq, Director, Student Affairs. The rally was followed by a seminar on HIV/AIDS, where a good number of distinguished professional experts presented informative talks that covered the current situation of HIV and AIDS in Bangladesh and also on the risk factors focusing on the importance of community and social awareness. Prof. G U Ahsan presented his concluding remarks on the importance of raising awareness about HIV and AIDS and how health promotion and health education are the key areas of focus for the youth of tomorrow to prevent AIDS in all aspects.

A seminar titled "Combating Refractory GERD through Pathophysiologic Approach" by Bumrungrad International Hospital also held on the day. Dr. Pisespongsa, as keynote speaker, conducted the session on Gastro Esophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) which is caused when stomach acid flows back into the esophagus, causing heartburn and acid reflux to such an extent that they interfere with the patient's daily activities. Chairman of BOT and the VC were present as the chief guest and the special guest respectively. Prof. Emdadul Huq attended as the guest of honour. The seminar was chaired by Prof. G U Ahsan. 

 

EEE Department  of  SEU organises seminar on nanotechnology

Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) Department of SEU organised a seminar titled "Nanotechnology: Where All the Big Things Start" on December 1, 2016. Keynote speaker of the seminar was Dr. Anis Haque, PEng, Associate Head and Senior Instructor, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Calgary, Canada. This programme was chaired by Dr. Engr. Muhibul Haque Bhuyan, Chairman of EEE Department. 

The word "nano" is no longer limited within the fields of technology but it has become a buzz word to mass people. The word has been incorporated to many commercial products though some of these are misleading. In his seminar, Dr. Anis discussed about what this technology means and why it is so popular and useful for every sphere of our life. He demonstrated some of the current researches and amazing applications that are coming in the near future. 

In the concluding speech, the Chairman of EEE Department, Dr. Engr. Muhibul Haque Bhuyan thanked the keynote speaker for his talk.

 

CUB holds career seminar for graduates

School of Business, Canadian University of Bangladesh organised a career seminar on "Jobs for BBA Graduates" on November 30, 2016 at University Auditorium. Tajdin Hassan, Head of Marketing, The Daily Star, Noyem Sharif, Head of Marketing and Communications, CEMS Bangladesh and Zarin Zeba Khan, Advocacy and Communications Advisor, SNV Netherlands Development Organization were the speakers of the event. S. M. Arifuzzaman, Head of Business School, Canadian University of Bangladesh conducted the programme.  

Main feature of the seminar was conferring the idea about job prospects of BBA, get to know about the School of Business of Canadian University of Bangladesh and discussion about taking the decision to start Bachelor's degree. Prof. Dr. William H. Derrenger, VC and Prof. Dr. James Gomez, Pro-VC of Canadian University of Bangladesh also spoke on the occasion.
