ULAB Fall 2016 Orientation week starts
University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) organised an orientation week for freshers titled, "ULAB Fall Orientation 2016" at its own campus in Dhanmondi on October 02, 2016.
As a part of ULAB Fall Orientation Week ULAB hosts "Proud to be a ULABian" for the freshers. It was a unique and interactive talk show where ULAB alumni and existing students shared their university memories, experiences and how they reached their respective positions. Ariful Hoque, Deputy Manager of ULAB Communications welcomed everyone and moderated the session where MBA student of ULAB Tanvir Ahsan, Sector in Charge (Key Accounts), Business Development, The Daily Star; EMBA alumni Taufiq Aziz, Advisor, Fields Sports Club & Manager, External Affairs, ULAB; BBA & MBA Alumni Ferdowsi Ara, Senior Students Advisor, Students Affairs Office, ULAB, Mahfujur Rahman Tushar, a student of Department of English & Humanities, ULAB; Asraful Alam Rubel, Cinematographer and a student of Media Studies & Journalism of ULAB; Ishrak Hussain, Musician and CSE Student of ULAB were present in the talk show and inspired young freshers of different departments.
Juditha Ohlmacher, Member of BOT, ULAB addressed the welcome speech. Prof. H.M. Jahirul Haque, Pro-VC, ULAB, Prof. Akhtar Ahmed, Registrar, ULAB also delivered speeches.
AIUB maintains ISO 9001: 2008 Certification
On the third year of its ISO 9001:2008 Certification status which was granted by SGS-UKAS in 2014, the American International University Bangladesh (AIUB) has maintained it once again with flying colours.
The two-day surveillance audit, on September 28-29, 2016, was carried out with the following activities: perusal of vital documents, interview with the key non-academic officers, ocular visit with the different physical infrastructure, inspection of safety measures and other facilities. The preparation and alertness of the IQAC Team headed by its Director, Prof. Dr. Charles C.
Villanueva, the non-academic officers headed by the university Registrar, Prof. M.A. Quaiyum, the Academic and non-academic Directors, Deputy Directors, and other officers of the different programmes, offices and campuses made the surveillance audit smooth and substantive. The SGS-UKAS Surveillance Audit Team composed of Shabab Ahmed Mahfuz, Chief Auditor and Farjana Ahmed, Senior Auditor, congratulated the AIUB team during the final wrap up. The success of this undertaking is attributed to the strong support of the management and its adherence to quality and excellence of both the academic programmes and services.
EWU celebrates Pharma Carnival 2016
The Department of Pharmacy of East West University (EWU) celebrated their week-long academic festival "Pharma Carnival 2016". The carnival included programmes like Pharma Olympiad, women's badminton competition, music competition, poster presentations, prize giving ceremony and cultural programme. The festival celebrated on September 22-29, 2016 at EWU campus, Aftabnagar, Dhaka.
The closing ceremony of this carnival held on September 29, 2016 at EWU Faculty Lounge. On this occasion, Tapan Chowdhury, former Adviser of Caretaker Government and Managing Director of Square Pharmaceutical Ltd. was the chief guest. Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, Chairperson, BOT, EWU and former Governor of Bangladesh Bank was the special guest. Prof. Dr. Anisul Haque, Dean, Faculty of Sciences and Engineering, EWU was the guest of honour. And Prof. Dr. M. M. Shahidul Hassan, VC, EWU, chaired the programme.
Dr. Shamsun Nahar Khan, Chairperson, Department of Pharmacy, EWU delivered welcome remarks and presented academic summary of her department. Deans, Chairpersons of different departments, faculty members, staffs and a large number of students of EWU took part in this festival.
Tahsan joins CUB as brand ambassador
Actor and singer Tahsan Rahman Khan has joined Canadian University of Bangladesh (CUB) as brand ambassador and Assistant Professor. In addition, Natasha Hayat Khan, university teacher and actress, and Solaiman Sukhon, university teacher and renowned IT specialist have joined as faculty members.
Notable sports commentator Chowdhury Jafarullah Sharafat, Vice Chairman, BOT, and Associate Professor S. M. Arifuzzaman, Head of Business School, CUB were present on the occasion.
NSU inaugurates Sports and Fitness Center
"To produce strong and spiritually fresh graduates, NSU emphasises on sports and cultural activities for its students since its inception. We are helping young people in terms of developing healthy habits for life," said Prof. Atiqul Islam, VC of North South University (NSU) in the inaugural ceremony of the NSU Sports and Fitness Center recently.
The center came up with larger capacity and resources for students, faculty and staff members of the university. It is staffed with six trained Fitness Associates and Fitness Supervisors to ensure the safety of participants and assist in basic exercise selection or performing exercise that may need to be monitored. This center is well equipped for fitness in aerobics/cardio gym and power gym. There is also an indoor basketball court with a capacity of large number of students.
Azim Uddin Ahmed, Chairman, BOT, NSU, formally inaugurated the center while senior teachers and administrative heads were present. Mushtaque Habib, Project Director, NSU was in charge to make the sports and fitness center complete with modern equipments.
IUBAT celebrates World Tourism Day 2016
The College of Tourism and Hospitality Management (CTHM) of International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT) celebrated World Tourism Day 2016 through United Nation's adopted global slogan for 2016: "Tourism for all- Promoting Universal Accessible". This is a global message for all countries across the world for continuing tourism development in order to harness the social, cultural, political and economic values of tourism.
The programme started with a rally participated by administrators, faculty, officers, staff and students of the university. The formal event part took place in the afternoon at IUBAT Auditorium.
Prof. Dr. M A Jabber, Registrar of IUBAT presided over the ceremony and highlighted the importance of the day and role of IUBAT in promoting tourism in the country by introducing Bachelor of Arts in Tourism and Hospitality Management (BATHM) degree for first time in the Bangladesh. He added that a good number of qualified graduates have emerged out of this initiative who are actively contributing to the development of tourism in the country and thereby contributing to community development.
Mohammad Musa, Coordinator, delivered the welcome speech and Shaikh Ershad Hossain, Mohammad Abu Horaira, Farzana Al Ferdous, Mohammad Mofasserul Islam (Pavel), faculty members of CTHM as well as Prof. Lutfar Rahman of the College of Business Administration (CBA) spoke in the event.
