Shibir leader shot dead, 7 bullet-hit

A leader of Islami Chhatra Shibir was shot dead and seven other activists were bullet-hit during a clash with police in Satkhira town this afternoon.
Aminur Rahman, the town unit president of Shibir, student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami, died on the spot while the activists were admitted to Satkhira General Hospital, reports our Satkhira correspondent.
Police claimed that the Shibir men were holding a meeting at one Mukul Hossain’s house near Nagasar graveyard around 5:00pm.
When the police conducted a raid in the house, the Shibir activists hurled cocktails at the law enforcers, Enamul Hawlader, officer-in-charge of Satkhira Sadar Police Station, told The Daily Star.
In retaliation, police opened fire at the Shibir activists, he claimed.
On the other hand, the injured Shibir activists claimed that police entered the house and shot them after tying their eyes with black ribbon.
"I have been living in the hose with four other students for a long time. In the afternoon, police entered our house and tied our eyes with black ribbons. They asked us to line up and then they fired shots," Nur Mohammad, 18, a madrasa student who was among the injured told The Daily Star.

The OC claimed that they recovered two firearms from the house during the raid.
