Jaishankar meets Hasina; says India prioritises relations with Dhaka

India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar reaffirmed New Delhi’s highest priority to its relations with Dhaka during a meeting with the visiting Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina today.

“Jaishankar had a warm conversation with Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina. Reaffirmed India’s highest priority to her relations with Bangladesh,” Indian External Affairs Ministry spokesman Raveesh Kumar tweeted along with a photo of the meeting, our New Delhi correspondent reports.

The meeting between Hasina and Jaishankar came just ahead of her delegation-level talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Hasina-Modi talks will mainly focus on bilateral relations after which the two countries are likely to sign six to seven MoUs in areas of connectivity, capacity-building and culture sectors, Kumar told reporters yesterday.

Hasina is now in India on a four-day official visit.
