BNP slams govt for implicating Qaiyum in Tavella murder case
BNP standing committee member Nazrul Islam Khan today criticised the government for implicating the party leader MA Qaiyum in Cesare Tavella murder case and termed it as an outcome of “politicisation of crimes”.
“Rapid Action Battalion is claiming that militants were behind Tavella murder while police submitted reports implicating BNP men including MA Qaiyum. What will we believe?” he said.
Nazrul came up with the allegation while speaking at a discussion at Kochi Kachar Mela auditorium in Segunbagicha area of Dhaka organised by Zia Shishu Kishore Mela, marking the 115th birth anniversary of national Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam.
Earlier in the day, a Dhaka court framed charges against Dhaka city BNP joint convener MA Qaiyum and six others in a case filed in connection with the murder of the Italian aid worker.
Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md Kamrul Hossain passed the order rejecting the discharge petition by five of the accused.
The court also fixed November 24 for starting the hearing.
