No talk on crisis in mega projects during budget session

Despite major projects in transport sector being either halted or delayed due to the coronavirus outbreak, no course of action was chalked during the budget session today on the projects.

Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal did not mention the struggle many projects--four of which are fast-track--are facing.

The minister however did touch up on Padma Bridge, Bangabandhu Tunnel, Metro Rail and Expressway and said work on these projects are underway.

Officials of several mega projects like Padma Bridge and Metro Rail (MRT-6) expressed apprehension that they may miss their deadline if the Covid-19 situation prolong further.

Work on major projects have experienced a massive setback after government announced a shutdown at the end of March this year to combat the coronavirus crisis.
