Nirmal Sen's anniversary of death today

The first death anniversary of Nirmal Sen, a politician, eminent writer and journalist, will be observed today.
He died on January 8, 2013. As per his wish, his body was donated for medical research.
Comrade Nirmal Sen Death Anniversary Commemorative Meeting Preparatory Committee will place a wreath at his portrait at the temporary stage at Nirmal Sen auditorium on 23/2 Topkhana Road in the capital at 10:30am.
Sen was born on August 3, 1930 at Dighirpar village of Kotalipara in Gopalganj.
He got involved in political activities in 1942 when he was a student of class IX.
Sen started journalistic activities when he was in class VIII. He became a professional journalist in 1956. He worked for the Dainik Jehad, Ittefaq, Dainik Pakistan and Dainik Bangla.
He was elected presidents of Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) for 1971-72 and Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) for 1972-78.
He was a life member of Jatiya Press Club. He was also a guest teacher of Mass Communication and Journalism Department at Dhaka University.
