BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia along with hundreds of leaders and activists placed wreaths and offered fateha at the grave of the party founder and former president Ziaur Rahman in the capital yesterday to mark his 32nd death anniversary.
Later, she attended a milad mahfil arranged by Jatiyatabadi Olama Dal on the grave premises.
The opposition leader also distributed cooked food among the destitute in different parts of the capital and inaugurated a voluntary blood donation campaign arranged by Doctors' Association of Bangladesh, a pro-BNP professionals' body, in the city. Earlier, the party flag was flown at half mast while black flags were hoisted atop the BNP's Nayapaltan central office and other party offices across the country.
