Yet de Kruif dissatisfied
Under most circumstances, a 4-0 win against any opponent should make the winning coach a happy man. Bangladesh coach Lodewijk de Kruif though still cut an agitated figure at the post match conference following Bangladesh's 4-0 romp over Northern Mariana Islands yesterday.
"It is a bit of frustrating result for us," said de Kruif.
"We created lot of scoring chances including a penalty, but we also wasted so many chances."
The Dutch coach was however happy to finish the qualifiers with a second successive victory.
"I am happy because my boys worked hard and gave everything on the pitch," said de Kruif. "It was not easy to play this team [who played defensive throughout the game]."
The Bangladesh coach said that they would now have to wait to learn their fate, subject to the results of the Nepal-Palestine match as well as the results from the other four groups.
De Kruif's counterpart Lee Luam Khen was just happy to keep the margin of defeat within a respectable boundary.
"Today we played our best out of three matches though the players were tired but they gave their best," said Khen adding that they stuck to their strategy of conceding less goals and they succeeded in their plan. Khen believed the experience of the AFC Challenge Cup Qualifiers would help them go forward in future. "We are an amateur side and our players don't have international experience. I believed we gained a lot of experience from the qualifiers and it will help us in the future,” said the Malaysian coach.
