United Airways gets two new aircraft
Private airliner United Airways (BD) Ltd yesterday added two more aircraft to its fleet.
The airline now has 11 aircraft in its fleet with the new two: a 167-seater MD-83 and a 64-seater ATR-72, said Captain Tasbirul Ahmed Choudhury, chairman and managing director of the carrier.
“This is the right time to procure desired aircraft to expand more domestic, regional and international destinations,” he said at a ceremony at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital.
United Airways, the first ever listed company in the aviation sector, now operates flights on international routes from Dhaka to Jeddah, Dubai, Muscat, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Kathmandu and Kolkata.
It will soon add Singapore, Doha and Yangon to its list of international destinations, the airliner said in a statement.
The airline which started its journey in 2007 also operates flights to Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Sylhet, Jessore, Rajshahi, Saidpur and Barisal. United Airways had earlier procured two Airbus-310s, five MD-83s, three ATR-72s and a Dash-8-100 aircraft.
